JARVI, Reino Matthew
Reino Matthew Jarvi was born on August 7th 1917 to Mr. & Helen Kelia [Penttila] Jarvi in Alango, Minnesota.
Mr. Jarvi of Virginia, Minnesota was inducted into the Army on June 13th 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
He served as a pump station operator in India and Burma during World War II. While serving in the jungle conditions he was once hospitalized with malaria. He rose to the rank of Technician 4th Grade during his service.
TEC Jarvi earned the following merits for his serivice:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal,
- American Campaign Medal,
- European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal,
- World War II Victory Medal, -and-
- three overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged in January of 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
Reino died on November 1st 1971 at the age of 51 years. He is buried at Alango Cemetery in Angora, Minnesota.
