He served as a Metalsmith 1st Class and welder with the 36th Naval Construction Battalion (Seabees) in airstrip construction for 27 months in the Pacific Theater.
He was honorably discharged on February 17, 1945 at USN Convalescent Hospital, Sun Valley, Idaho.
