Reino I. Heikkila was inducted into the Army on March 24, 1942, Fort Snelling, Minn. 

He was a Technician 5th grade in Company C of the 110th Engineer Combat Battalion in Southern Philippines (Liberation), Luzon, and the Ryukyu Islands. He was wounded in action on October 24, 1944.

He was awarded the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, American Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with two bronze stars, World War II Victory Medal and four overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged November 10, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wis.
