Reidar Pettersen

Reidar Pettersen of Duluth, Minnesota enlisted in the Navy on Aug. 8, 1942.

He was a Seaman 1st Class on the minesweeper USS Stansbury (DMS 8) in the European and Pacific Theaters, serving in North Africa, the Marshall Islands, Mariannas, Gilberts and New Caledonia.

Mr. Pettersen was awarded the: Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal,and the World War II Victory Medal.

He was discharged on Dec. 24, 1945.
