Raymond A. Peterson of Eveleth, Minnesota was inducted into the Army on Sept. 9, 1942.
He was a Sergeant and a construction foreman with Company B, 117th Engineer Combat Battalion, serving in the Northern Solomon Islands and Luzon.
He received the: Distinguished Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal with two bronze battle stars and Bronze Arrowhead, Philippine Liberation Medal with a bronze star, World War II Victory Medal and five overseas service bars.
He was discharged on Dec. 24, 1945.
