HOEL, Raymond Girard
Raymond Girard Hoel was born on June 5th 2015 to Peder Alfred & Elizabeth Marie [Munn] Hoel in Biwabik, Minnesota.
Mr. Hoel was inducted into the U.S. Army on March 13 1943 at Fort Snelling, in Minneapolis, Minnesota during WWII.
He served as an administrative NCO in the Medical Department of the 219th Army General Hospital and N Sector General Hospital. He rose the rank of Staff Sergeant.
SGT Hoel earned the following merits for his service:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, -and-
- four overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged January 22nd 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war he returned home and married Lois Myrtle [Peterson] in November 11th 1947 and they started a familly.
Mr. Hoel died on August 6th 1983 at 68 yeras of age. He is buried at the Eveleth Municipal Cemetery in Eveleth, Minnesota.
