THORPE, Raymond Floyd

Raymond Floyd Thorpe was born in Starkweather, North Dakota, in 1927 to Fritz Waldemar & Betsy [Jorgenson] Thorpe in Starkweather, North Dakota. He graduated from Oklee (Minnesota) High School in 1944.

Mr. Thorpe joined the U. S. Army on June 25th 1945 and served in the European Theater during World War II. 

Mr. Thorpe was assigned to the 51st Constabulary Squadron and was stationed in occupied Germany. His rank was Technician 5th grade.

TEC5 Thorpe was awarded the following for his service:

  • World War II Victory Medal,
  • Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), -and-
  • the Cold War Medal.

 

He was honorably discharged on February 12th 1947.

Mr. Thorpe died January 30th 2017 died in Floresville, Texas at the age of 89. He was buried at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
