Raymond Edward Gurske Jr. was born on August 11th 1926 to Raymond, Sr. & Louise E. [Parlan] Gurske in Duluth, Minnesota,
He served in the U.S. Navy from September 1943 until December 1945 during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
MM Gurske was assigned to the 7th Flotilla in New Guinea (Amphibious Force), 7th Fleet. He served aboard the USS LCI(L) #28 and Flotilla #7.
He served in Australia, New Guinea and served under MacArthur on his return to the Philippines.
During his service he rose to the rank of Machinists Mate 3rd Class. (MM3c).
