Raymond E. Haglund

Raymond E. Haglund of Hibbing, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on February 24, 1943 at Fort Snelling, Minn.

He was a Tank driver, medium, in the 746th Tank Battalion, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe. He was wounded in action in France on July 11, 1944 and in Germany on September 25, 1944.

Mr. Haglund was awarded the following medals:

  • Bronze Star Medal,
  • Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster, 
  • Distinguished Unit Citation with oak leaf cluster,
  • European-African-Middle East Campaign Service Medal with five bronze battle stars and bronze arrowhead,  -and-
  • World War II Victory Medal.

 

He was honorably discharged October 30, 1945 at Camp Atterbury, Ind.
