Source: Veterans’ Memorial Hall veteran history form; veteran’s account follows:
“I was in the troop ship General Omar Bradley, and as I remember any of my first overseas adventures was landing in Naha Harbor, Okinawa one evening and the next morning we were 3 days away at sea pushed that distance by a typhoon. After we returned to Okinawa, we had several rainy days awaiting orders to be shipped to Pusan, Korea as Occupational Forces. I was assigned to the 1778 Combat Engineers to the motor pool.”
