Peter F. Torreano entered the Navy on June 14, 1942.
Mr. Torreano was commissioned Lieutenant and served as the division radar and communications officer in the Destroyer Divisions 22 and 26 on submarine patrol in the North Atlantic, Pacific and Mediterranean waters. He had escort duties in European and African waters, including Italy and Southern France, and weather patrol in the Bearing Sea. He participated in the Philippine liberation and D-Day landings on Okinawa, and the mine sweeping and escort duty for the first occupation troops in the Inland Sea of Japan.
He was awarded the following: American Campaign Medal with one bronze star, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and Philippine Liberation Medal.
Mr. Torreano was discharged on July 11, 1946.
