Patrick James DeGrace was born April 5th 1924 to Michael Ambrosini & Josephine D “Pena” [Romano] DeGrace in Stevenson, Minnesota.
Mr. DeGrace was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 22nd 1943. Home at entry: Hibbing, Minnesota.
He served as a rifleman with Headquarters Company of the 39th Infantry Regiment Ninth Infantry Division in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).
PFC DeGrace earned the following merits for his service:
- Bronze Star Medal,
- Good Conduct Medal,
- Combat Infantryman Badge, -and-
- European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 bronze battle stars.
He was honorably discharged October 23rd 1945 at Fort Custer, Michigan. After the war he returned home and married Claire Jean “Jeanne” [Stokes]
Mr. DeGrace died on January 8th 1973 at 48 years of age. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
