BOUTTO, Orpo Ainar.

Orpo Ainar Boutto was born on October 29th 1911 to John Jacob & Sanna Murtomaa [Hakomaki] Boutto in Virginia, Minnesota.

Mr. Boutto inducted into the Army January 20th 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Togo, Minnesota.

He served as heavy equipment operator with Company A of the 321st Engineer Battalion in South Philippines. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).

PFC Boutto earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, two overseas service bars, ,and-
  • Philippine Liberation Medal with one bronze star.

 

He was honorably discharged January 11th 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war, he returned home.

Mr. Boutto died on March 18th 1974 at 62 years of age. He is buried at the Willow Valley Cemetery in Cook, Minnestoa.

Mr. Boutto served in World War II in the Pacific Theater. He served in the U.S. Army, with Company A, 321st Engineer Battalion, South Philippines. He was a heavy equipment operator. He was inducted on January 20, 1942, and was discharged on January 11th 1946.

His rank was Private 1st Class. Mr. Boutto was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal, with one bronze star and two overseas bars. Mr. Boutto was from Togo, Itasca County, Minnesota.

He was the son of John and Susan (Murtomma) Boutto. He grew up in or near Meadowlands, Minnesota.
