Olav Refsdal of Cook, Minnesota enlisted in the Army Air Corps on March 28, 1941.

He was promoted from Private to Sergeant after advancing at Air Corps Basic Flying School.

He served for four years and was with the European Theater of Operations overseas for two of those years.
