Norman V. Helbacka of Embarass, Minn. was inducted into the Army December 28, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He served as a Private First Class with Company A of the 245th Infantry Regiment and 63rd Infantry Division in Rhineland and Central Europe.
Mr. Helbacka was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal and two overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged March 14, 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wis.
