Norman Lien of Winton, Minnesota was enlisted in the Army on September 19, 1942.

He was a Technician 4th Grade and a medium tank crewman with the 1718 Service Command Unit, Station Complement, Headquarters Detachment in Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno and North Apennines, Italy.

He was wounded in action on July 10, 1944.

Mr. Lien received the: Purple Heart, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars and World War II Victory Medal.

He received a disability discharge October 3, 1945 at Regional Station Hospital, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
