Niilo W. Heittola of Aurora, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on September 18, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He served as a Private First Class in construction with Company C of the 50th Engineers in the Aleutian Islands, Eastern Mandates, Southern Philippines and Ryukyu Islands.
Mr. Heittola was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, World War II Victory Medal and five overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged November 26, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
