Niilo W. Lampi of Aurora was inducted into the Army on June 21, 1941 at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He was a Private First Class and a truck driver with the Headquarters Company in the 3rd Battalion, 160th Infantry Regiment in New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago and Southern Philippines (Liberation).
Mr. Lampi received the: Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with one bronze star, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and six overseas service bars.
He was discharged on October 5, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
