Nick Zobenica served in World War II in the South Pacific.
His rank was Private First Class. He served in the U.S. Marines from April 30, 1943, until December 16, 1945. He was assigned to the 4th Marine Raiders, part of the 6th Marine Division.
Mr. Zobenica received two Purple Hearts.
He was born in 1924 to Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Zobenica of Coleraine, Minnesota. He graduated from high school after the war in 1946.

"Fought on Guam - 1st wave - wounded July 21, 1944. Hospitalized in New Caledonia, hit by three grenades.
"Fought on Okinawa - 1st wave - wounded again on May 21, 1945, at Shun Castle on Okinawa. Gunshot on right leg.

"Quit high school in 1943 and came back in 1946 and finished high school. One of my commanders was Jimmy Roosevelt—Raider."
