Nels Johnson of Nett Lake, Minnesota was inducted into the Army on July 11, 1942.
Served as a Private First Class and ammunition handler with Battery C of the 951st Field Artillery Battalion in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe.
Mr. Johnson was awarded the: Croix de Guerre Fourragere (Belgium), Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation (2nd Armored Div.), European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with five bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal and five overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged October 23, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
