Milton Hyvonen of Biwabik, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on June 23, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He served as a Technician 5th Grade and dog trainer in the 40th Infantry Dog Platoon, Southern Philippines, Ryukyu Islands.
Mr. Hyvonen was awarded the: Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars and bronze arrowhead, American Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with two bronze stars, World War II Victory Medal and two overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged January 26, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
