SIMETKOSKY, Mike
Mike Simetkosky was inducted into the U,S, Army Air Corps on March 10th 1942, at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He served as and radioman/mechanic with the 743rd Bomb Squadron of the 455th Bomb Group in Algeria and Tunisia, North Africa; Rome Arno, North Apennines, and Po Valley, Italy; Southern France, Northern France, Air Offensive Europe, Air Combat Balkans, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He rose to the rank of Sergeant (SGT)
SGT Simetkosky earned the following merits for his service:
- Presidential Unit Citation,
- Good Conduct Medal,
- European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 silver and one bronze battle stars (in lieu of 11 bronze stars), -and- World War II Victory Medal.
He was honorably discharged on October 1st 1945, at Santa Ana, California.
