GRAFF, Merlin Edward
Merlin Edward Graff was born on March 14th 1926 to Edward Julius & Ruth Anna [Kosel] Graff in Sanborn, Minnesota.
Merlin Edward Graff was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 9th 1944 at Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He served as a squad leader with Company C of the 184th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division in the Ryukyu Islands. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSGT).
SGT Graff earned the following merits for his service:
- Combat Infantryman Badge,
- Good Conduct Medal,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 bronze battle star.
- Army of Occupation Service Medal (Japan), -and-
- World War II Victory Medal.
He was honorably discharged November 3rd 1946 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. After the war he returned home and married Delores G. [Bandimere] on May 27th 1948 in Monticello, Minnesota and they started a family.
Mr. Graff died on November 24th 2016 at 90 years of age. He is buried at the Forbes Cememtery in Forbes, Minnesota.
