Melvin "Rip" King of Nett Lake, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on November 15, 1943 at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He was a nician 5th Grade with Cannon Company, 148th Infantry Regiment in Central Europe.
Mr. King received the: Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with one bronze battle star, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and one overseas service bar.
He was honorably discharged on December 26, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
