Maurice Anthony Collyard was born on January 11th 1918 to Joseph & Helen [Connors] Collyard in Hibbing, Minnesota.
Mr. Collyard was Inducted into the U.S. Army July 21st 1943, Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Chisholm, Minnesota.
He served as a crane operator with the 723rd Engineers Depot Company in New Guinea. He rose to the rank of Sergeant. (SGT).
SGT Collyard earned the following merits for his service:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 bronze battle star,
- World War II Victory Medal, -and-
- Three overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged January 16th 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
Mr. Collyard died on October 9th 1972 at 54 years of age. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
