Matthew T. Brklich
Mr. Brklich enlisted in the Army on March 25, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Hibbing, Minnesota.
He served as a Technician Fifth Grade and medical technician with Company E of the 254th Infantry Regiment in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace and Central Europe. He was twice wounded in action in the European Theater of Operation (ETO) on July 17 and October 5, 1944.
Awarded: Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Infantryman Badge, Expert Medical Badge, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one silver battle star (representing five bronze stars), World War II Victory Medal, and two overseas service bars.
Honorably discharged October 5, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
