Mr. Strukel was awarded the following: American Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars, and World War II Victory Medal.
He was honorably discharged on November 9, 1944, at Birmingham General Hospital, Van Nuys, California.
