Matt Joseph Strukel, Jr.

Matt Joseph Strukel, Jr. enlisted in the Army on June 7, 1940, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Eveleth, Minnesota.

He served as a Private and rifleman with the 15th Infantry Regiment of the Third Infantry Division, and Detachment Medical Department at the 51st Station Hospital. He participated in Sedala-Fr. Morocco and Tunisian Campaign, North Africa; Sicily, and Italian campaigns.

Mr. Strukel was awarded the following: American Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars, and World War II Victory Medal.

He was honorably discharged on November 9, 1944, at Birmingham General Hospital, Van Nuys, California.
