ZNIDARSICH, Matthew Joe

Matthew Joe Znidarsich was born on February 1st 1922 to Matthew Frank & Gertrude [Garvis] Znidarsich in Eveleth, Minnesota..

Mr. Znidarsich entered the U.S. Army on April 2nd 1943, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Eveleth.

He served as a mechanic with the 543rd Ordnance Heavy Maintenance Company in Rhineland and Central Europe. He rose to the rank of  Technician 4th Grade (TEC4).

TEC4 Znidarsich earned the following merits for his service:

  • Good Conduct Medal,
  • American Campaign Medal,
  • European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars,
  • World War II Victory Medal,  -and-
  • three overseas service bars.

 

Znidarsich was honorably discharged on February 26th 1946, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.

Mr. Znidarsich died on April 27th 1956 at 36 years of age. He is buried at Eveleth Cemetery.
