Marvin B. Swanson was inducted into the Army on April 2, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
He served as a Staff Sergeant and Infantry rifleman with Company K of the 262nd Infantry Regiment in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns. He was wounded in action on June 13, 1944 and November 12, 1944.
Mr. Swanson was awarded the following: Silver Star Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, three overseas service bars, and Bronze Arrowhead.
He was honorably discharged on October 12, 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
