TASKINEN, Martin Henry
Martin Henry Taskinen was born on November 10th 1917 to Peter & Lempi [Wallin] Taskinen in Virginia, Minnesota.
Mr. Taskinen was inducted into the U.S. Army on April 30th 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Florenton, Minnesota.
He served as a cannoneer with Company E of the 398th Engineer Regiment in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Ardennes in the European Theater. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).
PFC Taskinen earned the following merits for his service:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 bronze battle stars,
- World War II Victory Medal, -and-
- three overseas service bars.
PFC Taskinen was honorably discharged September 18th 1945.
He died on October 22nd 1991.
