Martin C. Laine
Mr. Laine served in World War II. He was on-call for service in February of 1945 and inducted into service on April 19, 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was assigned to the United States Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, IL. During his time in the Navy, Mr. Laine was assigned to the 75th Naval Construction Battalion, 93rd Naval Construction Battalion, 143rd Naval Construction Battalion, 61st Naval Construction Battalion, and the USS Menard (APA- 201). He was honorably discharged from the service on August 5, 1946. His rank was Machinist’s Mate Refrigeration Mechanic 3rd Class. Mr. Laine was born in November of 1927 in Toivola, Minnesota. He is the son of Alex and Alina Laine. He graduated with a GED in 1946 and then later from Dunwoody Technical School in 1949.
