The following story was taken from an interview conducted by Christopher Handyside, a student at Ordean Middle School and grandson of Ms. Huschle. The narrative tells the story of of Marian's experience during World War II.
"During the war I was in Minnesota living on a farm," she tells. While she and her family lived on rations, her brother was off fighting the war.
Chris asked, "What happened to your brother?"
She responded, "He was on a Navy ship called the Hornet. It was hit then it sunk. He swam in the ocean all night, and he survived.
Another time he was captured and put in prison."
