KAPLA, Louis Stephen
Louis Stephen Kapla was born on June 13th 1919 to Anton & Mary [Kocmur] Kapla in Hibbing, Minnesota..
Mr. Kapla enlisted in the Marine Corps on October 25th 1940.
He worked as a telephone lineman and wire chief with the 3rd Marine Signal Battalion, 3rd Marine Amphibious Corps. He spent 31 months in overseas service including the American Samoa, New Caledonia, Guadalcanal, and the invasion of Bougainville. He rose to the rank of Technical Sergeant. (TSGT)
SGT Kapla was honorably discharged on September 8th 1945 at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
After the war, Louis returned home and married Mary Kocmur and they atarted a family. Mr. Kapla died on July 24th 1995 at the age of 76 years. He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
