Louis Rogich

ROGICH, Louis
Louis Rogich was born on November 9th 1909.
Mr. Rogich entered the U.S. Army on March 28th 1942.
He served with the 358th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Anti-tank Battalion, 90th Infantry Division. He was in the D-Day landing, June 6, 1944, on Omaha Beach. He also served in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe campaigns. He rose to the rank of Private First Class (PFC).
PFC Rogich recalls, "ending in Czechoslovakia when the Germany armored came in and told us the war was over. That was my happiest day."
He earned the following merits for his service:
- European-African-Middle East Campaign,
- Service Medal with 5 bronze battle stars, -and-
- World War II Victory Medal.
He was honorably discharged on October 24th 1945. After the war he returned home and married Mary [Bauer] in 1948.
