Louis John Petrack was born on January 27th 1920 to Jvan (Ivan) "John" Frank & Kata "Kate" Katherine [Radojcic (RADOTICH)] Petrack in Chisholm, Minnesota.
Mr. Petrack was inducted into the U.S. Army on April 24th 1942 during WWII.
He was a construction equipment mechanic with the Provisional Engineer Detachment, 4817th Service Command Unit, 8th Service Command Detachment in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada, and in the India-Burma and Central Burma campaigns. He rose to the rank of Sergeant (SGT).
SGT Petrack earned the following merits:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Service Medal with 2 bronze battle stars, -and-
- World War II Victory Medal.
He was honorably discharged on October 16th 1945. After the war he returned home and married Iris Joan [Brunner].
Mr. Petrack died on Decmber 22nd 2007 at 87 years of age. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
