Louis J. Sterle entered the Army November 23, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Chisholm, Minnesota.

He served as a Private First Class with Headquarters of the U.S. Control Council in Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was wounded in action on October 26, 1944, and March 1945 in the ETO.

Mr. Sterle was awarded the following: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Infantryman Badge, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars, World War II Victory Medal, and two overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged November 26, 1945, Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
