Louis John Vesel was born on March 22nd 1922 to Mathias A. & Katherine [Starich] Vesel in Soudan, Minnesota.
Mr. Vesel enlisted in the Army on July 25th 1940, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Home at entry: Soudan, Minnesota.
Mr. Vesel served as a Sergeant and radio operator with Battery B of the 81st Field Artillery Battalion in Rhineland and Ardennes.
He was awarded the following:
- Soldier's Medal,
- Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal with bronze star,
- Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal,
- European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 2 bronze battle stars,
- World War II Victory Medal, -and-
- 6 overseas service bars.
SGT Vesel was honorably discharged on June 22nd 1945, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. He died on March 4th 1993 at the age of 70. He is buried at Sand Lake Chapel in Britt, Minnesota.
