BECONOVICH, Louis
Louis Beconovich was born on October 15th to John & Stana [Raskovich] Beconovich in Buhl, Minnesota.
Mr. Beconovich enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 11th 1941 at Ft. Custer, Michigan. Home at entry: Chisholm, Minnesota.
He served as a airborne artillery gunner with the 464th Parachute Field Artillery in Iceland and Rhineland. He rose to the rank of Corporal (CPL).
CPL Beconovich earned the following merits for his service:
- Good Conduct Medal,
- Bronze Arrowhead,
- American Defense Service Medal,
- European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, -and-
- three overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged on September 30th 1945, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin. After the war he returned home and married Martha Marie [Hursey] and they started a family.
Mr. Beconovich died on October 2nd 1982 at 63 years of age in Sacramento, California. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Chisholm, Minnesota.
