Loren D. Wood entered the Marines Corps on August 4, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois.
He served as Private First Class and field artillery crewman in China.
He attended basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina, and immediately sent to China. Scrimmaged with the Chinese Communist on the Peking Highway just outside of Tientsin, China. Participated in the occupation of China.
Mr. Wood was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
He was honorably discharged on October 28, 1946, at Great Lakes, Illinois.
