Lloyd R. Hawley entered the Army in July 1942.
He attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned 1st Lieutenant and assigned to Battery A of the 270th Field Artillery Battalion.
He was shipped overseas in April of 1944 and had five campaigns with Patton's 3rd Army from Normandy to Austria and back to France.
Mr. Hawley was awarded the European-African-Middle East Campaign Medal with five bronze battle stars and World War II Victory Medal.
