Leslie F. Ormandy

Leslie "Les" Ormandy of Ely entered the Army in November 1942 after graduating from the University of Minnesota with a degree in journalism. He served with the 997th Signal Service Battalion in New Guinea during World War II. He was afflicted with a tropical diease and was medically discharged. He was a news reporter before, during and after his stay in the Army. Les died Sept. 3, 2002 at age 82.
