Leonard M. Rent served in World War II and the Korean War. He served in World War II with the U.S. Marines beginning on May 28, 1946 and was discharged on May 3, 1947.
He was assigned to the 3rd Marine Air Wing and was stationed at El Toro, California. When the Korean War broke out, Mr. Rent was recalled back into service on October 13, 1950. He served with the U.S. Army’s 5th Army Headquarters Service Company, 434th Engineer Construction Battalion. He was honorably discharged on September 21,1951.
Mr. Rent held the rank of Private First Class.
He was decorated with the: Korean Service Medal and with two Bronze Stars.
Leonard Rent was born in Summerville, Minnesota in June of 1928.He is the son of Anton and Anna Rent. He graduated from Orr High School in 1946.

“Leonard Rent on May 28th 1946, enlisted in the U.S. Marines. I spent most of the next year at the El Toro Marine Air Base in California. Then they decided to discharge me with the rest of the WWII veterans. When the Korean War broke out, I was recalled to active duty and sent to Korea. I served there for one year, after which I returned to the States and was discharged.”
