Leo P. Hiltunen of Tower, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on October 14, 1942 at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He was a Private First Class and squad leader in Company G of the 381st Infantry Regiment of the 96th Infantry Div. in Southern Philippines (Liberation) and Ryukyu Islands.
Mr. Hiltunen was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with two bronze battle stars and two overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged December 23, 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
