Lauri G. Harju of Aurora, Minnesota, was inducted into the Army on January 14, 1944 at Fort Snelling, Minn.
He served as a sergeant in Company G, 383rd Infantry Regiment, 96th Infantry Div. in Luzon, Bismarck Archipelago, Southern Philippines (Liberation) and Ryukyu Islands.
Mr. Harju was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, Philippine Liberation Medal, World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars.
He was honorably discharged February 8, 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
