Kenneth Rish of Duluth, Minnesota entered the Naval Reserve on June 26, 1943.

He was a Gunner's Mate 3rd Class in the European Theater.

He recalls, "Went to boot camp at Farragut, Idaho, then spent 24 months on LST 497 in European Theater. On D-day, on LST 497, we landed on Omaha Beach about 5:15 a.m."

He was discharged on March 13, 1946.
