Ken Deans

Mr. Deans served before World War II and in World War II. He was present for the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, and he served in the Pacific Theater.

Mr. Deans joined the U.S. Army in 1939 and was stationed in Hawaii; he and his wife lived 12 miles from Pearl Harbor. He was asleep when the attack came on December 7, 1941, and soon was sent to fight in the Pacific.

His rank was Lieutenant Colonel.

He was born in 1912. In 2009, Mr. Deans turned 97.
