Julien Henry Berntson served in World War II in the Southwest Pacific.

He served in the U.S. Army beginning on March 2, 1942. Mr. Berntson was assigned to B Battery, 116th Field Artillery Battalion, 31st Infantry Division. He served on Morotai Island, Dutch New Guinea (now Eastern Indonesia Moluccas), and Mindanao, the Philippines. He was discharged on December 27, 1945.

His rank was Sergeant, T4.

Mr. Berntson was born in 1919 in Hovland, Minnesota, the son of Knute and Ida Berntson.
