Joseph Russ entered the Army on Dec. 20, 1939.

He was a Technician 4th Class in Panama, the United States, and the European Theater. He participated in the Battle of Bulge, in the Rhineland and Central Europe.

He retired from the Army on July 30, 1971 as a Sergeant Major.
