He was awarded the following: Purple Heart, Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal, AirCrew Badge, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one bronze battle star, and World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Tonko was honoralby discharged on October 21, 1945, at Sioux Falls AFB, South Dakota.
