Joseph J. Kokal

Joseph J. Kokal of Eveleth was inducted into the Army on August 26, 1943 at Fort Snelling, Minn. 

He was a Technical Sergeant and stonemason with the 239th Combat Engineers in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines (Liberation).

Mr. Kokal received the: Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze battle stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with one bronze star, World War II Victory Medal and three overseas service bars.

He was honorably discharged on February 18, 1946 at Camp McCoy, Wis.
